Istanbul day 3, interview with Zeynep Tanbay



The Rec>ON project associated artists has met Zeynep Tanbay this morning, at Cezayir. She is one of the most popular modern choregographer in Turkey today, and her creations tour all around the world. As a citizen, she is also highly involved in the dialog process between Turkey and Armenia.

Istanbul, day two - meeting with young dancers




Marilén Iglesias Breuker, associated choreographer of the Rec>ON project, has conducted a meeting with young dancers from Istanbul. This moment is part of the project process aiming to hire artists from the 4 countries involved.
The associated artist Sedef Ecer, Serge Avédikian and Bruno Freyssinet where also involved in the meeting.

The Rec>ON project

European artistic and civic cooperation project between
Armenia, France, Germany and Turkey

WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION - EACEA
CULTURE PROGRAMME STRAND 1.3.5.: COOPERATION PROJECTS WITH THIRD COUNTRIES




How can we change the focus of a sensitive European debate, too often restricted to political arguments, to open it to a new dimension with citizenship and art?

How can we enable citizens from four very different countries to take on the question of reconciliation, in order to transform it into an open, stimulating work of art?

The focus of the project is to enable collaboration between artists, young people and representatives of civil society from Armenia, Germany, Turkey and France. The final aim is to create a common discussion around the creation of a multi-disciplinary show with the participation of the audience’s members.

The project will take place in each partner’s country from January 2011 to the first months of 2012.

Throughout this shared experience, European citizens as well as citizens from near by countries, will try to free themselves from geographic borders and historical and psychological barriers to think over together what reconciliation truly means.

It is not indispensable to always have the same point of view ; no one can prevent us from becoming more intelligent.

Comment donner une dimension artistique et citoyenne à un débat européen très sensible, trop souvent réservé au champ politique ?

Comment permettre à des citoyens de quatre pays si différents de s'approprier ensemble la question de la réconciliation pour la transformer en une œuvre artistique ouverte et stimulante ?

Le projet associe des artistes, des jeunes et des représentants de la société civile originaires d'Arménie, d'Allemagne, de Turquie et de France. L'objectif est de mettre en œuvre une réflexion commune avec la création d'un spectacle pluridisciplinaire associé à des actions avec les publics.

Le projet se déroule dans chacun des pays participants de janvier 2011 aux premiers mois de 2012.

Au travers de cette expérience commune, des citoyens d'Europe et des limites de l'Europe vont tenter de s’affranchir des frontières géographiques, historiques et psychologiques pour questionner ensemble l'idée de réconciliation.

Il n'est pas indispensable de garder toujours le même point de vue ; personne ne peut nous empêcher de devenir plus intelligent.
